Followup: Building 3 Fire
Sep. 1st, 2009 09:02 pmOk here is what I've heard:
The fire started yesterday (8/31/09 @7pm,) when a kid was cleaning his room. Not finding a flashlight to look under his bed, he used instead used a lighter which caught the bed on fire. Quickly the fire consumed not only the suite, but the suites on either side of it. As I have learned, the entire wing of the Y-shaped building has to be cleared of residents since water damage on the lower floors in itself will require repairs as well. I saw at least two moving vans of professional size at the building at the time I took the below picture thats under the cut. To get that picture, I had to walk around to the other side of the wing, making sure I stayed on the correct side of the caution tape, as the side of the wing is away from view from my own building.
( Aftermath damage )
Interestingly enough, Madre didn't know this was happening until she happened to see a report about it on TV. Regrettably, our suite is situated on the other side of the building we live in, another of the other two Y-shaped units.
